We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science and Business Intelligence team, to work closely with the Brokerage team on fraud mitigation. Exploiting data is core to our business, and in this role you will have an opportunity to:
Enable world-class user experiences across all our products by developing and deploying models Support the organization scaling up trading and brokerage volume by suggesting and deploying Fraud mitigation infrastructure, tools and models.. We are looking for a Data Scientist who can leverage data and develop models to improve how Blockchain.com operates and how we serve our customers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
In this role you will do some/all of:
- Develop and deploy models that improve our user experience across all areas of our product, including onboarding, fraud, engagement and delivering insights to users.
- Support the company through accurate, timely and actionable business intelligence.
- Develop risk-scoring models for users and payments
- Analyse customer behaviors, rules effectiveness, risk strategies, money laundering patterns to propose and make changes.
- Provide a frictionless onboarding experience (KYC flows, document verification, risk scoring), and multiple simplified onboarding flows.
- Work in a cross-functional team with products, data-science, compliance, customer success, frontend and backend.
- You will work on both real-time and long-term fraud modelling, monitoring and prevention.
- Identify and prevent fraud across payment methods (Cards, ACH, SEPA, Wire Transfers, crypto, etc.), products and customer segments.
- You will drive product adoption: the main focus of the risk/fraud team is to drive brokerage volume upwards by opening products to new geographies, removing payments restrictions and reaching new customer cohorts.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED

- Fluency in the data science tech stack, including Python (pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, scikit-learn) for data science/machine learning, analytics/visualisation/BI tools, and SQL
- Experience with data engineering concepts, ETL pipelines, and working with the Google Cloud Platform
- Experience in one domain among risk/fraud detection, payments processing, KYC, fraud modeling, AML.
- Strong understanding of probability, statistics and machine learning algorithms
- Commercial mind focused on impact, ability to translate business problems into a data science roadmap, and experience productionising results
- Strong communication skills, experience working in cross-functional teams and communicating technical results to stakeholders
