This group is divided into two divisions; the Direct-to-Consumer team provides these solutions directly to consumers while the Partner Solutions team empowers companies to provide these solutions to their consumers.

Job Description For more than 125 years, Experian has unlocked the power of data to create opportunities for consumers and businesses. Today, we have an opportunity for a smart, motivated, talented Data Reporter to help grow our content marketing team.

Working with other writers and our in-house experts, you'll leverage Experian’s vast trove of data to tell stories and create visualizations in service of our team mission statement: To be consumers’ trusted guide for timely, relevant, and unbiased information about the issues that matter most to their financial health.

As a Data Reporter, you will:

  • Wrangle data from internal and external sources, analyze it, and prep for publication
  • Identify topics and opportunities based on your data research and analysis that are relevant and aligned with overall company initiatives
  • Plan and produce short and long-form articles
  • Occasionally develop basic data visualizations to accompany written content
  • Assist fellow reporters with data brainstorming, fact-checking and analysis
  • Review data-driven articles written by other members of the team
  • Teach and encourage best practices for handling and analyzing data
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

The Data Reporter will be expected to conceptualize, outline, and draft articles on a broad spectrum of credit and personal finance related topics. The Data Reporter will be comfortable collaborating with our staff of writers, editors, compliance, and SEO specialists.

  • A combination of journalistic, quantitative, and artistic skills is ideal
  • At least 3+ years of writing experience, preferably for online publications in economics or a quantitative field
  • Experience working on data projects in a newsroom -- or experience doing statistical or data-scientific analysis, either in academia or in another research setting
  • Knowledge and interest in personal finance topics such as credit scores, credit cards, and loans as well as identity protection and cybersecurity
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments within tight deadlines demonstrating strong editorial judgement
  • A foundational understanding of data analysis tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Tableau. SQL and statistical software (R or Python) experience nice to have, but not required.
  • Ability to share published writing samples that show previous projects and experience working on data storytelling
