We're looking for a data science engineer to join our lovely team at YouGov Signal! YouGov Signal is a department within YouGov, building data products serving the entertainment and other industries, with products including a web application and prediction models, as well as integrating our data with the top notch audience research data products of YouGov. As a former start-up, our structure is still very flat, with data scientists getting the opportunity to contribute their ideas to our coveted data products, which now enjoy also the cutting-edge, connected data universe of YouGov, and of course benefit from all the perks of being part of a top-tier, medium sized, growing, international tech and data company.
The data you’ll be dealing with include engagement metrics across every piece of data across all major social platforms, on the one hand (YouGov Signal), online panel survey data (YouGov), as a well as the newest panel-based data source, YouGov Safe, where panelists are paid to upload data such as their TV Streaming history, Amazon Purchasing history and even banking data, giving us explicit permission to process it to create amazingly insightful data aggregates and products.
Scope of work:
- Research, analyse and assess data
- Design algorithms and aggregates
- Work with the product owner, figuring out how best to turn the raw data into cool deliverables
- Generate and research data product ideas
- Build proof of concept solutions to validate the ideas
- Build (along with the development team) production implementation
- Extend and maintain existing production solutions
At least 2 years in the field or in a similar field (If you have more experience than that, we will pay accordingly, as we are hiring for multiple roles. To a large degree we can fit the role to your experience level)
- Software / data engineering skills - Python, pandas, git
- Exploratory data analysis & data validation - Jupyter notebooks, matplotlib, seaborn, creative approaches
- Machine learning skills - Scikit learn, robust evaluation
- Well organised & methodical
- Good communication in English: both written and verbally
- Ownership and proactivity - Willing to participate in all phases of projects
Nice to know:
- Experience with Cloud Big Data tools and services (AWS preferred)
- NLP experience / other deep learning experience
