iOS Engineer

Square - US
Full-time
Posted: 4 months ago

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Square’s purpose is economic empowerment; since our beginning, we have been helping sellers start and manage their own businesses. The Cart Platform team at Square has a mission to build a consistent and unified cart platform that speeds up the delivery of cart building features across the ecosystem and delivers a remarkable seller and buyer experience. We make this possible by building a shared client cart platform for all of Square’s cart building experiences.

We’re looking for a resourceful and curious Engineer for Square’s Cart Platform team. The Cart Platform team provides Sellers large and small around the world with a simple, seamless cart building experience.

As one of the iOS engineers on the Cart Platform team, you will design, write, and review critical and complex code to move the Cart Platform engineering and product roadmap forward, while coordinating and collaborating with engineers from across the organization. You’ll partner closely with mobile and API peers on teams across the company as they take on larger initiatives that include the Cart. You’ll work with cross-functional Product and Design partners to design and build features that robustly serve elegant user experience to Square sellers and buyers around the world.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of iOS development experience.
  • Proficiency in native iOS development using standard tools and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C (we use a mix of both).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working in complex technical projects, e.g. cross-team programs.
  • A passion for building mobile products at all levels – from the low-level architectural decisions to the individual pixels.
  • A desire to build products that our merchants will depend on every day to run their business.
  • [Bonus] A record of self-directed side projects or open source contributions is a plus!
